The Master of Business Administration (MBA) program at Spring Hill College has been designed to provide maximum flexibility to fit the needs of the busy professional. Below are answers to some frequently asked questions about the program.

What are the benefits of an MBA in the current job climate?

The MBA gives a professional an added edge over others competing for the same position. It certifies the applicant has successfully completed an advanced business program of study that further developed the applicant’s problem solving, leadership and research skills.

How challenging is the MBA program at SHC? What sets it apart from other MBA programs?

The MBA program at Spring Hill College is an accelerated program that challenges students through an analysis of case studies and current events, who then recommend solutions that address these business problems presented. Students’ understanding of organizational behavior and management theories are also developed and demonstrated in a capstone business strategy, policy and sustainability course. Students will complete challenging courses in quantitative analytics, managerial economics and corporate profit, and cost accounting and financial economics. Also, students are required to develop and then apply advanced research and writing skills throughout the program.

In what ways is the program worth the investment of both time and money?

The cost of the MBA program at Spring Hill College is below local competitors yet is more flexible since it is fully online and allows students to select from three different concentrations: Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Leadership and Project Management. According to Spring Hill President E. Joseph Lee II, PhD, “We are ranked among the top ten colleges and universities in the country on a new Return on Investment (ROI) calculator.”

Forbes’ Senior Contributor Michael T. Nietzel, a former college president, published an article regarding this calculator that puts Spring Hill on this Top 10 list. Our college is among the top four-year institutions ranked by Price-to-Earnings Premium (PEP), or average number of years required for alumni to pay down net educational costs.

According to Nietzel, the “list illustrates that colleges can earn a good PEP score (the shorter the time to pay down net costs, the better) in two ways: low net costs … where students are able to cover their college costs in less than one year; or high median earnings ten years after enrollment, as is the case with Stanford, Princeton, Georgia Tech and Harvard.”

Here are the top ten rankings:

  • California State University, Dominguez Hills
  • California State University, Los Angeles
  • Stanford
  • Princeton
  • Georgia Tech
  • Cuny Bernard M. Baruch College
  • Harvard
  • University of Texas, Rio Grande Valley
  • Spring Hill College (Alabama)
  • California State University, Bakersfield

What do previous MBA students say about the program?

Previous MBA students say they are now more prepared for senior leadership roles, while some have earned promotion as a result of the completing the program. They say their advisor made their initial application process easy and seamless and helped them plan and successfully complete their program of study in a timeframe that met their need.

Here is a testimonial from Jim Brendel, who completed his MBA at Spring Hill. “I cannot begin to thank the staff of Spring Hill College enough for their flexibility and professionalism while I worked on my MBA. Working full-time and raising a family are stressful by themselves without the added pressure and time commitment required of a graduate level degree program. Every professor and advisor I worked with understood those challenges and demands and responded positively to ensure I received a quality education. I am beyond proud to call myself a Badger!”
